An app for GTA 5 called Grand Theft Auto: iFruit had been released for iOS ahead of GTA 5's release.
"iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction," the apps description says.
"Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps."
The afformentioned LifeInvader is a social media parody site, a version of which Rockstar recently put online and which seems likely to appear in game in some fashion.
The app allows players to customise their in-game vehicles, choosing their own paint jobs, brakes, exhaust and suspension, amongst other things.
The app will also allow players to create and reserve license plates for GTA 5's online component, GTA Online.
Most importantly of all though, the app will allow players to train Chop the Dog.
The app's description confirms that Chop is Franklin's dog in GTA 5 and says that players will be able to pet him, feed him, play with him and teach him tricks (the dog, that is, not Franklin).
At the time of writing the app is not yet available on Android.
