Beyond: Two Souls 'Not As Linear As It Appears' Says David Cage

The subtle choices that players make in Beyond: Two Souls could make the game appear more linear than it actually is says David Cage.

Beyond: Two Souls will aim to "emulate life" according to Quantic Dream's David Cage.

Speaking to Polygon, Cage said that Beyond: Two Souls will not telegraph choices to players or present them with binary options, to the point that players may not even realise that they are making a decision.

According to Cage, this could lead players to think that Beyond: Two Souls is more linear that it actually is. 

"We spent a lot of time doing user tests and a lot of people who played it said it felt really linear because there were no obvious choices presented to them," Cage explains.

"But that's because everything was organic and implied. They didn't see the choices," Cage continues.

"It's only when they talked to other players and compared their playthroughs that we got this water-cooler effect where they realised how their journey was different to somebody else's."
