2K Games has unveiled 'Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot'
According to MTV Multiplayer, the Mad Max-inspired title denotes the "intense single-player or cooperative experience" accordingto 2K, with the pack set to add three new Riot Mode arenas, in which players will fight more Pandora nasties for "fame, honour and more importantly, loot." We love the latter, so it's all good.
Mad Moxxi will also add a new feature, enabling players to bank more weapons, as well as level-up with additional skill points. Gearbox's DLC designer Jon Hemingway, insisted that the pack was not too similar to Borderlands' Arena quests. "This is totally different," he told MTV Basically the idea is that we have this character, Moxxi. She's running this underground coliseum tournament arena thing. The best thing you could compare it to is either Horde mode in 'Gears of War 2' or Firefight mode in 'ODST.' But even those don't quite sum it up."

"She throws out what are called 'Moxxi Maxims,' these rules that dramatically change the way the game play," Hemingway added. "She'll be like, 'Vampire Rule!' which makes it so that the player's health is constantly draining, but every time you get a kill you get a whole bunch of health back. Now all the players are like, 'Holy crap, I have to play amazingly aggressive,' so you have to charge in before you basically bleed out. Another example, she'll go 'Shotgun Challenge,' where all shotguns do bonus damage and all other guns take a penalty."
The designer added that a single tournament can take up to six hours, while Randy Pitchford described the DLC thusly: "like Smash TV in coop FPS." We're there. Look out for it on 360 December 29 and PS3 on January 7. The PC version hasn't been dated yet.
