Gran Turismo Player Becomes Real Racer

There's hope for you all yet...
The story over at PCauthority is incredibly long-winded – although feel free to click the linky if you want excruciating detail. As for our part, we’ll break it down for you. Lucas Ordoñez was just an ordinary student with a passion for Gran Turismo. However, in the space of twelve months, he competed in worldwide championships and won the right to attend the PlayStation GT Academy, where he learned to race real cars.
Now, he is a full-time professional racing driver and is, as far as we know, the only person to translate their virtual skills into a real-life vocation. It reminds us of the plot from 80’s nonsense-flick The Last Starfighter in which a dopey teenager becomes so good at a particular arcade game, he’s recruited by an intergalactic power to fight the evil Whatsitrons.
“We wonder if they hooked up his car to a sixaxis?”
If there’s anything to be learned from this it’s that there is hope for everyone. Amazing at Guitar Hero? The day it starts raining coloured notes is the day you’ll a true hero, soldier.
