Our team on the floor in Los Angeles have been talking with Tamosz Gop and Jan Klose, Executive Producer and Creative Director of the upcoming RPG Lords Of The Fallen. We asked them what they could achieve with next-gen consoles that is currently impossible.
"There's a lot we can do" says Klose. "First of all, is the visual presentation. Like, the pyrotechs that you saw, We want to improve on that quite a lot because we can now really use particles that are physically simulated.
"It's much easier if you have more bandwidth to do this. You don't have the limitations that you normally have where you had to say 'okay, here we cut down on AI' or cut down on details or whatever. We're free to use whatever we want to do this and that is a great thing."
We've got graphics on one side, but we also try to focus on 'how can graphics support the gameplay and support the combat'? We can now do that without the limits that we had before. So it's just acting more freely, which is really really cool."
Lords Of The Fallen is a fantasy RPG coming to next-gen consoles and PC some time in 2014 from Polish developers The Deck 13. Gop was previously a dev at Witcher developers CD Projekt Red, so he certainly has the pedigree to make a great RPG.
