E3 2013 is less than a month away, and there's no denying that it's shaping up to be the most exciting one yet.

Sony and Microsoft will be there demoing the PS4 and Xbox 720 (or whatever it's called) there, while a bevy of next-gen game announcements are expected to be made.

It's a big deal.

Michael Pachter claims that it'll be the most important time for both Sony and Microsoft too, adding that it doesn't matter when these reveal events are - E3 is the big deal.

"Microsoft and Sony have both departed from prior practice by having an independent event different from E3," said Pachter in the latest episode of Pach Attack.

"Sony was very smart to do a reveal event in February. I thought they kept the buzz up and a lot of people talked about the PS4. That talk has faded."

Pachter adds: "Now talk is all about the next Xbox event, so there's now buzz in front of it. They announced it about a month ahead of time and they're going to get buzz for the two weeks heading into E3.

"The truth is, buzz is one thing, purchase intent is another," said Pachter "I don't think anyone is buying any of these boxes until they see them and they see the price."

As such, what matters is E3 2013, where we'll see a lot of the details gamers are really interested in.

"You're going to see the box, you're going to see the price, you're going to hear the launch date," claimed Pachter. "Then from 10 June to launch date, which will probably be November, you have 5 months to make up your mind."

"So I don't think the timing of these pre-launch events mean much at all, other than it gives the press more than one opportunity to write about these things with some knowledge."

Have you made your decision on your next-gen console? Are you PS4 or Xbox 720? Or will you wait and see?
