Future Zeldas Could Include More Tech

Zelda, once the last bastion of pure Japanese fantasy, now has trains in it... whatever next?
Gunblades. They pretty much sum up the Japanese attitude to mixing traditional fantasy with modern tech. Perhaps that’s what Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma was referring to when he spoke to Kotaku recently, highlighting his refusal to rule out other forms of technology after Nintendo’s recent inclusion of trains in The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
“Regarding use of other forms in technology in the future, as long it adds to the overall game experience” he imparted “and is something we feel the player would enjoy, we wouldn’t be afraid to implement it. As a matter of fact, we have used the Hook Shot in several previous games, which would be considered a very modern type of technology, even by today’s standards.”
“Gunblades!”
Yeah, maybe you could attach some kind of melee-style blade weapon to that hookshot. By jiminy, I think he’s onto something!
