Bioshock 2 To Offer Freedom Of Choice

Bioshock 2's lead designer claims more choice in the sequel's story arcs...

As much as Bioshock ruled the sub-aqua art deco RPGFPS kingdom in 2007, that merely places extra onus on its sequel to improve and expand. Speaking exclusively to our sister publication games™, Bioshock 2’ lead designer Jordan Thomas has revealed that the linear experience of the year before last – one carrying only two outcomes – is due far more iterations in its sequel.

“the one thing that was important to me was that in the meta-narrative we acknowledged what many thought to be the subtext about your level of narrative agency in first-person shooters.” He told us. “So, in BioShock 2 we’ve been labouring long and hard to celebrate the player’s free will and give them a number of choices that affect not just the micro-arcs of the story, but also the major shakeouts that occur at the end of the game.”

“we've been labouring hard to celebrate the player's free will”

So, three endings then. Thanks.
