RedOctane experimenting with motion control technology

Kai Huang, co-founder of RedOctane, has revealed that his team is already experimenting with Microsoft’s motion control technology and is ‘exploring the possibilities’ that Natal has to offer.

When quizzed by The Seattle Times, Huang confessed, “We haven’t made any specific announcements of what we’re doing with new technologies in Guitar Hero 6 and beyond, but one of the areas we’re exploring certainly is camera technology and what you do – track your movements and maybe have your characters on the screen do certain things you’re doing, or personalise it more so it can look more like you on stage than just another avatar.”

“There are a lot of possibilities that technologies like Natal will bring”

Huang continued. “There are a lot of possibilities that technologies like Natal will bring, and we’re definitely exploring those.”

So it looks like we’ll all be able to live out our rock star ambitious to an even greater extent in future iterations of Guitar Hero - just try not to throw your TV out of the window before it gets here.
