Rome 2 More Likely Than Modern Warfare

Creative Assembly's Studio Director explains why the warfare of the 20th century and beyond holds no interest...
Creative Assembly was built on ancient warfare, from Shogun to Rome to Medieval, to Empire, and beyond? Well apparently not. In a recent interview with our sister publication Total PC Gaming Magazine, Studio Director Mike Simpson was quick to quash rampant rumour that the developer may have a World War I, II, or even a futuristic III in the works, citing that it would have to be a completely different type of game.
“World War I isn’t fun.” He argues “So you’d probably want to skip over that and go to World War II or modern warfare, and at that stage your battle fields get much bigger. You’ve got where, what we’ve got at the moment is four kilometres or so, you’ve suddenly got 40, or 400. An then if you go up to 40 kilometres you’re talking, rather than 100 men in a unit, it’s a 100 tanks in a unit.”
“World War I isn't fun”
He does concede to the possibility, however, stating that “One day that could happen, it’s one of those things on the list… eventually. Rome 2, yeah… that’s interesting.”
We have to agree, but then, until you try, you just don’t know. If anyone could make that fun, it’s Creative Assembly, so come on guys… why not give it a shot?
