The latest instalment in Nintendo's multi-character fighting game Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS has been impacted by an injury to lead dev Masahiro Sakurai.
Sakurai, who has worked on the series since its N64 inception, is currently suffering from a painful condition in his arm known as calcific tendonitis.
He has said (via Polygon) there is 'no telling' what impact his injury could have on the project if it doesn't get better, suggesting it could be leading to delays behind the scenes.
He said: "There’s no instant cure for it, so all I can do is either block the pain with injections or put my arm in a cast to keep the ruptures from spreading. I was told that the important thing was to keep my arm as rested as possible.
"There’s no telling what impact that would have on the project."
