Activision Hints At COD Online Plans

Thomas Tippi, Activision Blizzard CFO has discussed the potential for new revenue models for the blockbuster shooter
Speaking at yesterday's wonderfully titled 'BMO Capital Markets Conference' Tippl was quizzed on whether the success of the World Of Warcraft online business model would ever be seen on the publisher's other big franchises.
"It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetise the online gameplay," Tippl replied. "There's good knowledge exchange happening between the Blizzard folks and our online guys."
“We look at different business models to monetize online gameplay”
"We have great experience also on Call Of Duty with the success we had on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. A lot of that knowledge is getting actually built into the Battle.Net platform and the design of that. I think it's been mutually beneficial, and you should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetisation models of some of our biggest franchises like Call Of Duty."
So, will we start to see weapon packs or maybe a Modern Warfare subscription model? We're not sure that would go down too well – let us know what little COD extras you would be willing to pay for…
