Total War: Rome 2 is ready to show off just how many units it can get on screen and much more in a new video from Creative Assembly.

Total War: Rome 2 is proving itself to be the most complex return to Creative Assembly’s series with a new video detailing gameplay features and huge sprawling battles.

Jack Lusted, lead unit designer on Total War: Rome 2, talks us through some of the game’s new features and details the reasons behind some of the decisions that have been made.

Siege gameplay will no longer be a ‘bit of meat grinder’ that sees players focus solely on capture points. Now, players will have to look at the ancient cities and strategically factor their design into how you approach them and ‘be active’ in battles.

Battles will also be slightly slower than those in previous games, but as Total War: Rome 2 is still in development, it’s not clear just how slow or what it actually means for the gameplay in the long term.
