The Wii U is the console to put Nintendo back on the radars of "hardcore twitch gamers" according to Matt Prior, the Line Producer of the Wii U version of FIFA 13
"A lot of people wrote off the Wii because we live in the world of hardcore twitch gamers, right? So a lot of people around us, they didn’t see the appeal of the Wii because they were thinking as a hardcore twitch gamer," Prior told NowGamer at an EA event yesterday.
"Now I think even a hardcore twitch gamer can appreciate this console. If you then factor in the casual guys, who are maybe upgrading from the Wii, I think it has a real potential to do well. I hope it does well because I think the world is a better place when there are three competing consoles rather than two or one dominating."
Wii U appears to be on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of capability, but the jury is still out on whether's its unique selling points will be enough to differentiate it in the minds of consumers.
"They’re doing a lot of cool stuff with integration with TV as well," Prior added. "Gone are the days of a dedicated gaming machine."
