DJ Hero Gets A New Spin

Will new DJ edition be bigger than Guitar Hero?
Despite a star-studded launch event late last week and the backing of rap royalty such as Jay-Z and Eminem, the shock news this morning was that Activision’s new deck-spinning franchise DJ Hero only rolled in at number 20 in the multi-format charts.
However, considering the package is over twice the price of a regular game and well over that of its guitar-based equivalent, the chart position could be seen as a triumph for the game's publisher and developer Freestyle Games, especially when you bear in mind that DJ Hero is a brand-new franchise that is yet to build the user base its musical contemporaries boast.
“When Guitar Hero first launched it charted at number 28 in the All Formats chart”
Many might be surprised to learn that when Guitar Hero first launched on the PS2 back in April 2006 it only charted at number 28 in the All Formats chart and, complete with guitar peripheral, had a retail cost of around £50.
By hitting the shelves in early November, DJ Hero has plenty of time to win over consumers before the Christmas rush when it is sure to feature more prominently in the higher echelons of the videogame chart.
