Borderlands 3 'Not In Development' - Pitchford
Borderlands 3 rumours begin to surface but Gearbox's Randy Pitchford quickly puts them to bed.

Borderlands 3 is currently not in development in any capacity, according to Gearbox Software’s founder, Randy Pitchford.
Pitchford put to bed rumours that Gearbox was working on Borderlands 3 after taking to Twitter to calm the masses of people who had begun asking about it.
“Chill out internet. No one has started working on a sequel to Borderlands 2. It’s fun to talk and think, but actual effort is focused on Borderlands 2 DLC, Aliens, etc.”
Rumours regarding Borderlands 3 surfaced when Borderlands 2’s lead writer, Anthony Burch, claimed the game was already in the planning stages at the studio, but Pitchford was adamant Gearbox was focusing on DLC for Borderlands 2 and its up-coming Aliens: Colonial Marines.
“Clean and Simple truth: The only Borderlands related game development work going on right now is for Borderlands 2. I expect that to change at some point, but that is the state of the box at this moment in time…”
That’s not to mention the rumours of a Borderworlds game that recently surfaced that implied that Gearbox is working on a more MMO-inspired spin-off of the Borderlands franchise that could see guilds and instanced dungeons take over from the RPG shooting.
Gearbox hasn’t mentioned Borderworlds since copywriting its name, but it seems likely the series could ultimately grow into a multi-game franchise at some point.
