IW Round-up: Slurs, Leaderboards & Piracy

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has been a busy tweeter over the weekend

First of all, the developer's creative strategist conceded that a recent public service announcement-style viral video created by the 'Fight Against Grenade Spam' was unacceptable, what with the organisations acronym doubling as an offensive word. "I think it was more of a social commentary joke of that stereotype than it was a fist-bump of acceptance to it," Bowling micro-blogged, adding: "I think the core gag is great, the end is a bit too far from the intent of the joke and can appreciate the concerns. Pulled."

Meanwhile, with Modern Warfare 2 out on Tuesday 10 November a full wipe of the Modern Warfare scoreboard looks to become a reality. "It definitely looks like a full leaderboard / level reset is in order just before the release date to ensure no unfair advantages," confirmed Bowling.

“A full leaderboard reset is in order”

And anyone who plays online using a pirated version of the game will be caught out according to the Infinity Ward man. "They're listed on the leaderboards. Logging online with a modded Xbox is like sewing a big red scarlet letter on yourself."

Look out for our exclusive series of interviews with Bowling in the run-up to the release of Modern Warfare 2.
