ZombiU 'Very Hard', Includes Dark Souls Style Player Hints

Ubisoft Montpellier seems to have taken inspiration on the difficulty of Demon's/Dark Souls for ZombiU.

ZombiU was playable at Gamescom 2012, and NowGamer managed to get hands-on time with Wii U's first zombie game. And yes, it is hard.

The emphasis here is on dying to earn the necessary knowledge to survive an area. It even becomes a necessity to loot an area to acquire the necessary items before you'll have access to the next, tougher area.

"We really want to target and challenge the gamers with ZombiU because this game is very hard." says Ubisoft Monpellier's international product manager Nicolai Bouchai.

"So for example when you finish the game you will unlock a new mode called Survival Mode. You will have to finish the game with only one life and only one character."

Bouchet claims Ubisoft is making ZombiU hard to better target for the large groups of gamers that will be buying Wii U on launch, "We know there are a lot of gamers expecting a lot with the Wii U, so that's why we want to deliver this experience and dedicate it to the gamers."

What is interesting is that there are clear nods to Demon's/Dark Souls, with ZombiU including the ability to leave messages and hints for other players of the game - a feature that can only be accessed with the Wii U GamePad and the room-scanning ability.
