Game writer confesses Avatar script is over 900 pages long
Director James Cameron claims to have had the idea for Avatar running around his head for over a decade and if revelations by one of the game’s scriptwriters are anything to go by it might take us just as long to get through the game.
An over-exaggeration of course but according to game scriptwriter Kevin Shortt there’s certainly plenty of story to get through.
“Is this really 900 pages? Did we really write all that?”
“So we did an export of this script with everything in it – all the threads, all the dialogue, everything. It came out to over 900 pages. We didn’t even realise, when we printed it all out we were like, ‘Is this really 900 pages? Did we really write all that?’”
He did, however, go on to assert that the objective isn’t necessarily about completing the game 100 per cent but to give players a different experience to the film.
“It’s not a dynamic storytelling game. But nevertheless you still have these paths that you can go down, and that does make for a lot of plot. Our primary objective was to introduce more of the world of Pandora, and I think the best way was to come up with a different story on another part of the planet.”
