FFXIII set for 2010 release in Europe/US

Square Enix's president Yochi Wada has said Final Fantasy XIII won't be released outside of Japan until 2010

Speaking to news agency Reuters, Wada said that FFXIII will be out in Japan this year, but Western gamers will have to wait until the financial quarter starting April 2010 to get their hands on the hugely anticipated title.

FFXIII, originally a PS3-exclusive, was announced for the 360 at last year's E3, but it remains a PS3-exclusive in Japan. Wada didn't mention if the RPG would release simultaneously on both consoles in Europe and US.

Wada also told Reuters that Square Enix's business remains in good health despite the slowing economy, and is on track to meet annual profit forecasts. Though in the longer term he expects to miss the company's recurring profit target in 2011.

Following his failure to buy Tecmo last year, Wada went on to say he is currently talking to various companies in Japan and overseas regarding potential acquisitions.
