UFC, the high-profile mixed-martial-arts license that recently left THQ for EA, will be turned into a game by the dev team behind Fight Night, EA Sports has confirmed.
EA Sports UFC is the working title for the first game of the partnership, the publisher told Kotaku.
The 'Fighting Team', headed by Fight Night Champion design lead Brian Hayes, will concentrate on all of EA Sports' combat-based games moving forward, the publisher added.
“Most of the team didn’t even know about [the new UFC game] until the announcement at E3," said Hayes. “We were all watching it together and when Andrew Wilson and [UFC president] Dana White took the stage, everybody starting cheering. It was great.”
THQ released the UFC license following restructuring at the publisher.
