Respawn's Debut Shooter To Skip 2013? 'No Comment' - EA

With Battlefield 4 confirmed for 2013, will Call of Duty creators new IP arrive in 2014 for next-gen?

Battlefield 4 has just been confirmed by EA, with a beta officially set to happen in Autumn 2013 - we'd guess closely followed by a launch.

If so, it would appear the Battlefield/Medal of Honor bi-annual release pattern closely resembles the two-team approach taken by Activision with Call of Duty - but where does that leave the highly secretive game at Respawn Entertainment?

Call of Duty creators Vince Zampella and Jason West set up the studio and are creating a brand new IP for EA, which was originally rumoured to launch in March 2013 according to a leaked marketing document.

Crysis 3, which launches in February 2013, will now fill that FPS window for EA, while Battlefield 3 will likely arrive in the traditional late October slot.

Respawn's project might not arrive until 2014 at the earliest judging by EA's schedule - which suggests that it could be a contender for next-generation consoles.

EA declined to comment on the status of Respawn's debut project.

In January Respawn posted the first production images from a mo-cap stage (above) - in May, EA and a group comprising Zampella, West and former Infinity Ward employees settled out of court with Activision following long-term litigation.

Do you want to see Respawn's first game wait to launch on Xbox 720 and PS4? Would you rather play it earlier than have another Battlefield game? Have your say below.
