Guitar Hero 5 outselling The Beatles: Rock Band
Despite an impressive marketing campaign and having the back catalogue of the biggest band in the world to rock out to EA’s The Beatles:Rock Band is being outsold by Activision’s Guitar Hero 5.
“I guess we're the only ones not surprised”
With tracks like ‘So Lonely’ by The Police and ‘Back Round’ by Wolfmother going up against barnstormers like ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ the sales figures will surely come as a surprise to everyone, everyone expect for Activision’s Dan Rosensweig that is who when talking to gamesindustry.biz said “I think it's the entire experience. The number one thing about Guitar Hero is that it's fun as hell – it's focused on the guitar, and the variety and value proposition - and the reviews are spectacular. So I guess we're the only ones not surprised.”
Perhaps this might put the brakes on any further band-centric editions being developed but with U2 now expressing a desire to make a game we doubt that very much.
