Tim Schafer Reveals Brutal Motivation
Tom Hopkins 15:32, Tuesday 29 September 2009

The veteran developer has revealed the techniques that got the Double Fine team to give 110 per cent on Brutal Legend
Speaking to Play Magazine, Schafer was asked whether he kept the dev team inspired during crunch periods with tracks similar to the metal music in the game. "That would have been great," replied Schafer. "I could just put on some Manowar and take my shirt off. Whenever I take my shirt off that’s always very inspirational for the team. They definitely keep their eyes on the screen when I walk around with my shirt off."
“That's how we burn all our discs actually, with lightning”
The ex-LucasArts veteran, known for his work on the studio's text adventures (including Monkey Island), also shared details on Double Fine's manufacturing processes: "That’s how we burn all our discs actually, with lightning. We call upon the powers of the metal gods and they carve the image of the game into every disc."
The entire interview can be found in a forthcoming issue of Play Magazine, while Brütal Legend is out on 16 'Rocktober' on PS3 and Xbox 360.
