Call of Duty Elite's iOS and Android apps will be released when Apple and Google decide, according to a tweet by Beachhead Studios.

"iPhone & Android apps are in final submission w/ Apple & Google," reads the tweet from new year's eve. "It's up to them on release date, we'll share as soon as we hear."

The apps were supposed to launch with the CoD Elite service, which went live with the release of Modern Warfare 3.

The highly-anticipated apps will enable CoD Elite members to check their stats - including that all-important K/D ratio - and access exclusive content, news and more on the move.

Apple submission has taken anything from a few days to weeks on previous apps, with OnLive still waiting to launch its mobile device player app on iTunes. The equivalent app hit the Android store as planned late last year.

As soon as the Call of Duty Elite iOS and Android apps get a release date we'll let you know.
