Sony has revealed on the PS Blog that up to 60,000 PSN accounts and 33,000 Sony Online Entertainment accounts have been compromised.
The platform-holder and publisher has stressed that account holders' credit-card information is "not at risk".
Sony's VP & Chief Information Security Officer, Philip Reitinger has confirmed that the number of affected accounts only amounts to "less than one tenth of one percent" of the total user-base of PSN, Sony Entertainment Network and Sony Online Entertainment.
The affected accounts have been locked, with "only a small fraction" showing signs of activity before being frozen.
"We are currently reviewing those accounts for unauthorized access, and will provide more updates as we have them," added Reitinger. "If you are in the small group of PSN/SEN users who may have been affected, you will receive an email from us at the address associated with your account that will prompt you to reset your password."
The same goes for SOE account holders. Back in April all eyes were on the PSN after it was hacked, prompting Sony to up its online security.
