Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be playable for a lucky few as of early October Valve has confirmed.
The first wave of players will be by invite-only on PC, with Valve giving away keys at the this week's EG Expo. The beta will go public some time later.
With CS: GO edging closer to a public beta, Valve's Chet Faliszek told us a pricing model was still undecided.
"We're not really talking about price, or what form it comes in yet. But our goal is to get on with the beta, and make the best possible game we can. Pricing is a talk we'll have to have later," he said.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive is set to hit Xbox 360, PC and PS3, with Portal 2-style cross-platform play between the latter two formats.
