OnLive UK Launch: Prices And Games, Launch Promos Detailed

OnLive has launches in the UK today, and the cloud based gaming provider has announced the prices and launch games, along with a number of launch promotions.

First-time OnLive purchasers in the UK can get their first OnLive PlayPass for just £1, instead of the usual £39.99. BT broadband customers can get more than 100 PlayPack games free for 3 months.

Anyone attending this week’s Eurogamer Expo can also pick up the OnLive Game System (a MicroConsole and controller) for free. While stocks last, naturally.

Nearly 150 games will be available to play today, and include Deus Ex: Human revolution, DiRT 3, Homefront and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Games coming soon to OnLive include Batman: Arkham City, Civilization V and Assassin's Creed Revelations.

OnLive’s prices start at £1.99 for a 3-day PlayPass for a game (granting unlimited play for the specified period), to full price game purchases. A monthly subscription is also available: £6.99 will get you unlimited access to OnLive’s PlayPack, a 100-strong list of recent, indie and classic PC games.

OnLive is cloud based, which means it streams all the games from a server, without the need for expensive hardware or downloads. All the processing is done on the sever and interactive video is streamed to the client. This enables high-end PC games to be played on relatively low-spec hardware.

You can play OnLive via a browser on PC or Mac, a free app download for iPad, Android and iPhone and with the OnLive MicroConsole, which plugs into an HDTV.

OnLive also boasts a number of innovative online features including Brag Clips, which enables you to record and share your best gaming moments, and the ability to watch other gamers playing live.
