Gears Of War, Fortnite Dev Leaves Epic To Make Beautiful iOS Game
Gears of War and Fortnite designer Lee Perry has joined forces with other former Epic developers to found BitMonster Games, a indie studio which has announced Lili, a Studio Ghibli-esque, Unreal Engine 3-powered iOS adventure.
“BitMonster is comprised of six senior developers, previously with Epic Games, who headed out to explore the world of indie game development,” reads the studio’s site. “We feel an inflection point in the industry has been reached where a small group of developers with powerful tools can make a huge impact and shape future trends. It’s an exciting time for video games and we couldn’t help but join in.”
Fortnite was shown off at Comic Con last week, and as well as Epic’s first Unreal Engine 4 game, Perry has also variously worked as Lead Designer, Senior Gameplay Designer, Lead Level Designer, and Artist on Gears of War 1, 2, and 3, Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004, Unreal Championship and Infinity Blades: Dungeons.
Lili looks like a more family-friendly experience though, and very impressive for a mobile title, too – check it out below:
