NowGamer becomes another cog in the Modern Warfare 2 hype machine...
The dust has finally settled and Activision's relentless marketing machine is cranking its last rev. Now that the dust has settled, we find out for one last time what Britain's games journalists really think…

Did you review Modern Warfare?
Yes and I gave it 86%, though that was just a review of the single-player campaign.
“The excellent multiplayer back end I always view as an added bonus”
What’s got you most excited about Modern Warfare 2?
The story. COD 4's story was exciting because it wasn't bound by a historical context. It could literally go anywhere, and, as a result, it had the capacity to surprise the audience with flashbacks, new locations and sublime set pieces. Infinity Ward will challenge itself to up the ante with the narrative – I want to see what they've cooked up.
Are you a single-player, multi, or both kind of guy?
Single-player.
Any special plans for Tuesday?
To burn through the campaign as quickly as possible, before everyone ruins the inevitable twists. There's bound to be another 'nuke moment', as with the first – I don't want some douchebag to ruin it.
Which format will you be playing it on and why?
The 360. Even though I'm not really a fan of the multiplayer, mainly due to the population of morons that talk into their headsets on Xbox Live, I'd still like the option of playing it. My friends will all have the 360 version, so it makes sense to own that one.

Did you review Modern Warfare?
No.
What’s got you most excited about Modern Warfare 2?
I'm excited about the new, more cinematic and hard-hitting direction IW are taking the series. With US soil under attack it's certainly going to be climactic, but you've got to wonder – where can IW go from there?
Are you a single-player, multi, or both kind of guy?
I played the original Call Of Duty on the PC for two years before even firing up the single-player mode – it's true! It wasn't until I'd played the single-player on COD 2 that I thought I'd better give the single-player a bash.
Any special plans for Tuesday?
I'm going to complain most of the day about why dedicated servers have been taken away from the PC version. Then I'll probably curl up into a fetal ball and sob gently in the corner.
Which format will you be playing it on and why?
I'll be playing it on the PC because I'm a good old-fashioned PC gamer who simply can't and won’t play an FPS on a console pad. Given the recent malarkey with dedicated servers and all that jazz, though, if MS was to suddenly allow mouse and keyboard support overnight I would be an instant convert to the Xbox version – I'll be able to play with my buddies and pillage the lot of them.

Did you review Modern Warfare?
Nope, being a retro gaming mag, we didn’t review Modern Warfare. We probably could’ve got away with reviewing a new Medal Of Honor game (as it’s the slightly older franchise), but even that would be pretty tenuous. We are big fans of the series, though.
