Sony has billed the reveal of 20 new ‘experiences’ at its pre E3 2012 conference. We run down what you should be looking out for from PS3 and PS Vita this year.

Sony is gearing up for a killer pre-E3 2012 conference this year, with the publisher promising to lift the lid on 20 new ‘experiences’ on Monday 4th June. Sony’s statement didn’t clarify what these ‘experiences’ would be, but there’s enough information out there to make an educated guess.

Join us as we look forward to what you can expect from Sony’s show, including big hitters God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, Kara, LittleBigPlanet Karting, as well as a raft of PS Vita exclusives including Killzone, Soul Sacrifice, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and much, much more.

God of War: Ascension

Sony Santa Monica is going to bowl over the crowds with God of War: Ascension at E3. With a teaser trailer and a rather stunning multiplayer reveal under its belt, it’s about high time we got a chance to see Kratos in action. Sony’s conference at E3 2012 could give us that first taster.

The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog’s post apocalyptic epic has gone quiet in recent months, but a strong E3 showing will no doubt kick expectations into the stratosphere once more. The Last of Us is a safe bet for a Sony’s E3 conference showing, as is a gameplay demonstration similar to Uncharted 3’s cruise ship demo last year. The reveal of a solid release date is also assured.

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale

Sony takes on the fan-service power of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise with this insane beat ‘em up, pitting the PlayStation’s biggest stars against each other in combat. This is another heavy hitter for Sony, so you can expect the reveal of more new characters at its pre-E3 conference - most likely inFamous star Cole, if an entry on his voice actor’s LinkedIn profile is anything to go by.

Killzone Vita

First unveiled at Sony’s PS Vita reveal event last year, Killzone Vita has since receded to the backlines. However, recent rumblings from the games industry suggest that a new Killzone teaser is being recorded. The rumours began after a script for the teaser allegedly emerged online. Either way, Sony’s pre-E3 2012 conference would be the perfect launch pad for Killzone 4 or the PS Vita version.

“Kara”

Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream lifted the lid on its Kara tech demo at GDC in March. While it was purely intended as a tech demo, it will likely pave the way for whatever the studio’s next project may be. Quantic Dream has been quiet on the project since the reveal, with the exception of studio head David Cage, who has since said that the final game will ‘significantly improve’ on the Kara tech demo. If true, this could really light up Sony’s pre-E3 conference.

Call of Duty Vita

Another unveiled project from Sony’s PS Vita reveal showcase, Activision confirmed it would develop a new Call of Duty game for Sony’s handheld, although the name and nature of the title is still under wraps. The safe money would suggest that it’s a port of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but we’re not so sure. With Black Ops 2 fever running at a high, a Call of Duty Vita showing at E3 makes perfect sense.

LittleBigPlanet Vita

We know this one is coming, because you can sign up for the LittleBigPlanet Vita beta phase right now. With a beta sign-up happening now, it makes perfect sense that LittleBigPlanet Vita will get a showing at Sony’s pre-E3 conference, and undoubtedly a hands-on presence at the after show. Bank on this. Speaking of which…

Untitled Media Molecule project

The house that LittleBigPlanet built has been eerily quiet since LittleBigPlanet 2 launched, and don’t forget that this was the studio’s last game, with subsequent LBP titles being developed by other studios. So just what has Media Molecule been working on since? We’re not sure, but it seems too lazy to just presume its next game is LittleBigPlanet 3, so our money is on a brand new IP reveal at Sony’s conference.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

This happy little PS3 racer comes courtesy of United Front Games, the same team behind the often-overlooked Modnation Racers series. Creation beats at the heart of both series, so this could be a match made in heaven. Sony would be mad to keep this one away from its E3 conference – it IS LittleBigPlanet after all.

Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time

Sucker Punch might be out of the frame, but new developer Sanzaru Games proved it has what it takes to keep the Sly Cooper series in check at Gamescom 2011. Since showing off Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time gameplay at the event, Sanzaru has been stealthily quiet on the game, suggesting that a pre-E3 showing is likely.

Soul Sacrifice Vita

When it was revealed, many gamers presumed this was a PS Vita sequel to Dark Souls, when in actual fact it’s a grim, four-player take on the Monster Hunter series from ex-Capcom legend Keiji Inafune. Those in the know already realise how massive the PSP Monster Hunter games are in Japan, so could this be the next best thing? Keep your eyes on the Sony pre-e3 conference for more.

Assassin’s Creed Vita

Yet another game that was confirmed alongside the PS Vita reveal last year, nothing has been confirmed regarding Ubisoft’s handheld romp. Is it Assassin’s Creed 3 proper, or is it an offshoot. Previous PSP entries suggest it’s a spin-off, but given the Vita’s clout, it could be a spectacular one. Look to Sony’s E3 conference for more info ahead of the Assassin’s Creed 3 launch on 30th October.

Metal Gear Solid Vita

Nope, not Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, but the new Metal Gear game Hideo Kojima confirmed he was working on at the PS Vita reveal event last year. Although he showed off footage of Metal Gear Solid 4 running on PS Vita at the show, Kojima did say that the Metal Gear Vita would be new. Could this be Metal Gear Solid 5, or in some way linked to recent concept art of Big Boss? Check out Sony’s pre-E3 conference for hints.

The Last Guardian

Because, well, why not really? Appearing on every E3 ‘most wanted’ list for the past 27 years, Team Ico’s tale of one boy and his dog-griffin-thing has become a running gag among the vapourware circuit, but there is still hope for a showing at Sony’s pre-E3 show. It may be wishful thinking, but Sony certainly hasn’t pulled the plug on The Last Guardian just yet, so you never know.
