EA Confirms Profit, New Dead Space, Need For Speed Games By 2013
Dead Space 3 and a new Criterion-developed Need For Speed game will be with us in the next 12 months, EA has confirmed during its latest financial report.
EA saw annuals profits surge from $233m this time last year, to $284m for the last 12 months, with Mass Effect 3 sales and digital revenues credited with the success.
BioWare MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic meanwhile lost 400,000 users since launch to drop to 1.3m subscribers.
“At the foundation is another year of blockbuster brands: Madden NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal Of Honor, Dead Space, and Need For Speed as well as mobile hits like The Simpsons Tapped Out, and Bejeweled,” the publisher said during an investor call, hinting at more details on the unannounced titles at E3 next month.
Dead Space 3 has been rumoured for some time, and was recently listed on a South African retail site along with Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2, rumoured to be in development at Criterion.
Need For Speed is expected in the last calendar quarter of 2012, while EA confirmed the upcoming SimCity for the first quarter of 2013. The publisher also confirmed its intention to invest $80m on the development of titles for future platforms over the next 12 months.
