E3: MGS Rising ‘not copying Kojima’
We asked the two if Rising would follow the path laid out by Hideo Kojima and have long cutscenes and a great deal of exposition – surely one of the main factors when considering a Metal Gear Solid game? The response:
“It’s not a Hideo Kojima game – Hideo Kojima was very famous for storytelling themes, with the messages and the humour. We’re not trying to do the same thing, because I think we might not be very good at battling head to head [with Kojima].
“This means there’s more emphasis on a different approach – we’re not copying what has been done before. This time it’s a katana sword action game at the core – that’s one difference between the games of the past and this one.”
There’s no release date yet for Rising, but the more action-based title will be making its way to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC at some point in the future.
