Battlefield 3 Heads Huge Franchise Pre-Order Increase – Amazon UK
Amazon.co.uk has reported today that numerous upcoming games are tracking pre-orders significantly higher than the previous entry in each respective series
Gears of War 3 has been pre-ordered twice as much as Gears 2, FIFA 12 three times more than last year’s FIFA 11 and Batman: Arkham City three and a half times more than Arkham Asylum.
The winner though is Battlefield 3, currently pre-ordered by 23 times the numbe rof people that pre-ordered Battlfield 2. There are some good reasons for the growth however, including a potential market that played earlier games but didn’t pre-order them, increased brand awareness and the rise of the pre-order incentive.
In the case of Battlefield – Battlefield 2 was a relatively niche title on just one platform (PC), while Battlefield 3 is a juggernaut of marketing across PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Hardley a fair comparison, no?
