Amnesia Dev Talks Secret Horror Project
Amnesia: The Dark Descent maybe one of the most atmospheric (read: downright scary) horror games of the last few years, but developer Frictional thinks it can up its game even more on a secret new project it has in the pipeline.
Frictional is currently collaborating with Dear Esther studio thechineseroom on Amnesia sequel A Machine for Pigs, but recently advertised for a level designer on what could be an upcoming sci-fi game.
“Afraid there is not much we can say at this point,” Frictional dev Thomas Grip told NowGamer about the project, adding that the game will be “first person horror, that will take things deeper than what Amnesia did and have a more consistent theme.”
“It will not be totally different from Amnesia/Penumbra, but I think it is a quite big evolutionary leap and we try a few things we have not really touched upon before,” Grip explained. “We feel there is much more to do with the sort of gameplay we started exploring 7 years or so ago, and since nobody else is doing it we might as well.”
Frictional declined to confirm or deny whether the project had a sci-fi theme, but said it would reveal more on the project when Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is finished – the sequel is currently set for a early 2013 launch.
